Where are you based?

Our psychologists are based in the North East of England, namely Northumberland and County Durham. Online therapy has seen a recent surge in provision following the recent pandemic for COVID 19. This means we are able to offer online therapy that requires no travelling and also allows us to offer provision across England.

We are however able to offer in-person sessions across the North East so please contact us if this is your preference and we will determine if we have a colleague in your area.

What happens to the information you collect about me?

We adhere as independent psychologists to the Data Protection Act (DPA, 2018) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is the UK's independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the publics' interests; promoting transparency about data use and ensuring data privacy for individuals.

As a group of independent psychologists, we are individually responsible for the information collected and stored about you during therapy or other services. Please review our combined Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions and also the ICO website

Are psychologists regulated?

Yes, all qualified practitioners are regulated. Although it can get a little confusing as there are a number of professions that provide services for mental and emotional health, including psychologists, psychotherapists, mental health nurses, and psychiatrists. Each may have a different regulating body. To ensure the professional you approach is qualified and sufficiently trained ensure that they are registered and regulated by an independent body.

The term 'psychologist' is not a protected title, meaning anyone can use it and they may not be trained/qualified. For all practitioner psychologists, the regulatory body is the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). You can ask your psychologist to provide you with their registration number and check they are part of the register for practitioner psychologists on the HCPC website.

You can also look for the HCPC logo when making enquiries online.

Complaints:

In the first instance, we would hope that you could speak to your psychologist about any problems or issues that may occur. While it is hoped this would not happen, if you do not feel able to or are unsatisfied with their response, it is also the HCPC where you can go for advice or make a complaint if you are worried or concerned about the service you have received.

At Consult Psychology, all of our practitioner psychologists are fully qualified and highly trained registered Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologists.

Our registration numbers are:

Dr Rachel Woodward - PYL32775

Dr Carol Galvin - PYL24606

In addition, all of our psychologists hold professional indemnity insurance and have Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for working with children & adults.
