The Therapy Process

Step 1: Contact Us

If you are looking for a psychologist it is likely that you have already identified an area you would like support with. Contact us on the form below to arrange an initial consultation (free, no obligation) to discuss your needs with an experienced professional.

Step 2: Initial telephone consultation

During this free 15 minute consultation you will have a brief conversation with a professional about your needs and what services might be helpful. We will then provide you with possible treatment options and, if agreed, arrange an appointment to start the therapy process. We will send you our Terms & Conditions and agree what happens next.

Step 3: Therapy assessment and planning

The first 2-3 sessions with your therapist will be an assessment of your needs. This includes taking a history of problems and aspects of your life that are important to understanding your problems better. We will then agree on what you hope to achieve during therapy and how this could be achieved.

Step 4: Therapy

You will begin therapy sessions lasting 50 mins, usually on a weekly basis (depending on needs). The course of therapy can differ but the number of sessions will be based on your needs. By the end of this process you should have a clearer understanding of your problems and needs, and how to manage these within your day-to-day life.

Step 5: Moving forward and feeling better

As you near the end of your planned sessions and are feeling better, we will start to look ahead and consider together with you how best to draw therapy to a good conclusion. For some this may be ending sessions completely, others may like to reduce frequency and/or have follow up sessions to check in with their therapist to discuss their progress.
